The Pine Barrens is a unique ecosystem characterized by its acidic, low-nutrient water and soil. So distinctive is this area that it was designated an International Biosphere Reserve in 1988.
The Franklin Parker Preserve provides an excellent 6-mile hike to experience its natural beauty. Along the way, you’ll traverse through wetlands, open meadows, cranberry bogs and blueberry fields.
Lunch will be on the trail, so bring a daypack with water and lunch.
There is a portable restroom at the trailhead.
