Native Bee House Construction

May 20 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

$15
Default Event Image

Celebrate World Bee Day by constructing a dwelling for native bees.

The Orchard Mason Bee, a diminutive, shimmering blue bee, plays a crucial role as a native pollinator for early blooming plants such as fruit trees. It is non-aggressive, lacking a colony or hive to defend. Instead, these bees make their nests inside hollow plant stems or holes previously crafted by other insects in wood.

You will learn about the life cycle of these bees and then be guided in creating a structure akin to a birdhouse. This structure will be filled with hollow plant stems to provide a conducive habitat for these invaluable native bees.
