Young Artists Design Contest in Honor of International Day of the Girl Hosted by Moxie Chic

The NYC-Based Girl Power Brand is Hosting a Design Contest for Artists 5-16

In an effort to inspire, empower and motivate females all around the country, Moxie Chic, an NYC-based feminist apparel brand that promotes empowerment for women and girls of all ages, has announced a design competition for young artists ages 5 - 16. The contest launched on International Day of the Girl, October 11.

Artists and graphic designers between 5 and 16 years of age are invited to participate by submitting original artwork/designs that illustrate “what feminism means to them.” The design contest went live at 12:00 AM on Sunday, October 11 and will run for 30 days, closing at 11:59 PM on November 11 and will be judged by Moxie Chic personnel, with a winner being chosen on or before November 15, 2020.  The winning design will be transitioned into a tee-shirt that will be for sale on Moxie-Chic.com, with all profits from the sale of the winning shirt being donated to Girls Inc., a non-profit organization focused on ensuring girls build critical academic and life skills and have access to life-changing mentorship experiences in a pro-girl environment. The winning artist will also be featured on Moxie Chic’s website homepage and on the brand’s social media pages.

Participants can view the full contest rules and submission criteria by visiting https://moxie-chic.com/blogs/the-moxie-chic-blog/young-artist-design-contest. To submit an entry, artists must send their original design in a .png, .jpg or .pdf format to info@moxie-chic.com.*

International Day of the Girl was established by UN Women in 2011 to commemorate the anniversary of the fourth World Conference on Women in 1995. This conference made history for the women’s rights agenda with the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the most visionary blueprint for the empowerment of women and girls.

“This day has a deep significance to me as a woman, a girl mom, and a feminist,” said Jennifer Shurdut-Bab, Founder of Moxie Chic. “The International Day of the Girl fits the core of Moxie Chic’s mission perfectly -- to empower and inspire women and girls all over the world to be whomever or whatever they want to be and to fight for complete equality. I hope that our design contest will light the spark in young artists everywhere, and I can’t wait to see what feminism means to these creative minds.”

Many of Moxie Chic’s apparel designs include depictions and references to notable women in history, all of whom worked hard to better lives and strengthen communities, including Marie Curie, Harriet Tubman, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and even “Rosie the Riveter.” Moxie Chic recognizes that more than half of today’s essential workers are women and, as such, recognizes, celebrates and supports their heroic efforts.

*Contest submissions will be judged at the discretion of Moxie Chic personnel. Moxie Chic reserves the right to disqualify any designs that do not meet the submission criteria, available in the contest’s rules on www.moxie-chic.com
