Description
Visitors are invited to explore a "Naturalist's Dinner Party, - a Mycological Study Expressed Through Clay,” a free exhibit of ceramic sculptural forms at the Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
The exhibit is open daily from Saturday, October 19 through Sunday, November 17, 2019 (except Election Day and Veteran’s Day) from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Visitors to the exhibit will experience the fascinating world of the fungi kingdom through the talented hands of local artist Jodi Sommer. She has focused her sculptures on the the mycological universe. According to Sommer, the exhibit captures the spirit, the essence and the spontaneity of the remarkable organisms rather than a direct replication.
There is a free reception scheduled on Saturday October 19, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00P.M. The reception and the exhibit are free.
The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge, NJ is located within Lord Stirling Park, in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, and is nestled within 500 acres of the western portion of the Great Swamp Basin of the Passaic River. A swamp vivarium, and an environmentally based library are located within the Center itself.
“The Great Swamp Experience” on the lower level at the EEC features interactive displays, vignettes, taxidermy, and archeological artifacts highlighting the history and ecology of the Great Swamp. The exhibit is open 7 days a week from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Admission is free.
