Master Gardeners Children’s Garden Series

The Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County invites children and families to the Master Gardeners Children’s Garden Series, where they can learn how to start and maintain their own gardens.

This free family-friendly event series will take place at the Children’s Garden located inside the Middlesex County EARTH Center in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park from June to September.

In each program, attendees will learn a wide range of gardening tips and tricks. These gardening lessons are perfect for any family looking for outdoor fun or to start their own backyard garden this summer.

How Does Your Garden Grow?
Learn about the wonders of seeds and help plant them in the Children’s Garden! Discover what seeds need to grow, and how a plant utilizes nutrients and water from the environment.

Wiggly Worms in Our Garden
Learn about red wigglers and their role in vermicomposting. What do worms need to thrive? How do they move in their habitats? Why do we depend on them? You may also get to meet some earthworms that live in and enrich the soil of the Children’s Garden.

Saturday, September 13

Succulents and Sand Garden
Learn about succulents and which environments they thrive in. What makes a succulent different from other plants? Attendees will participate in a scavenger hunt for succulents in the Children’s Garden and create a mini-meditation garden to take home, complete with sand, succulents, and rocks.
