Description
Visit the sugarhouse as Happy Day Farm renews the centuries-old tradition of making pure maple syrup.
In March, when the days become longer and warmer, they start the process of maple sugaring. They continue to sugar the "old-fashioned" way, using buckets to collect sap, and now have taps connected to plastic tubing in effort to increase production. They boil the sap down to syrup in Olivia's Sugar Shack in a wood-fired evaporator. Help Farmer Tim with the tapping process!
There are over 700 maple trees and it takes about 80 gallons of sap to make a gallon of syrup.
The maple sugaring tour includes a tractor ride tour of the 130-acre farm to the sugar bush, an educational tour and access to the friendly farm animals. The goats and chickens will be available to feed.
Pancakes and maple syrup will be available to purchase.
Dates are March 11, 12, 18 and 19. Tours will take place at select times: 10 am, 11:15 am, 12:30 pm, 1:45 pm, 3 pm and 4:15 pm. Tickets will be sold at the door only, no reservations are required. Arrive 15 minutes prior to your desired time slot.
Admission is $18 per person; children under 1 are free.
Cash only.
Keep in mind, rough terrain and cold temperatures may be present during your visit. Dress accordingly. The first portion of the event in the Sugar Shack is wheelchair accessible. The second portion of the event is not considered wheelchair accessible due to uneven terrain. A tractor ride and a short walk on a wood chip path is required from the Sugar Shack to the Sugar Bush.
