The Somerset County Park Commission Lord Stirling Stable, located at 256 South Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge, NJ, will host the NJ State 4-H Roundup Team Benefit Hunter Pace on Sunday, October 20, 2019. The first team will take the course at 9:00 A.M., with the last team leaving the gate at 1:00 P.M. Spectators are welcome at no admission fee.

Teams of two to three riders are invited to follow a well-marked course that is 6 to 8 miles in length.  There are usually more than 30 fences, up to 3’ in height.  Fences 2’6” and higher are identified with a cone and there is a way around each fence.

The NJ 4-H Round Up Team Benefit Pace offers five divisions: Open, Family, Junior, Hilltoppers, and 4H (all team members are current 4H members). Ribbons are awarded to the first six teams in each division finishing closest to the “ideal time” set by the Pace Team.

Registration is done in person on the day of the event.  Entry fee is $35.00 for juniors (under 18) and 4H members and $40.00 for adults.  A separate check or cash in the amount of $5.00 is required to obtain a pinney with the team number, and will be refunded upon return of the pinney.   Light refreshments will be available.

An approved ASTM/SEI certified riding helmet and riding shoes or boots are mandatory for all participants. All riders must provide a negative Coggins taken within the past 12 months when registering. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed at all times.  No alcoholic beverages are permitted on Park property.
