Description
Cape May is presumed to be haunted. Ghost seances, ghost walking tours and ghost and spirits trolley tours are available year-round. This fall, the town gets even more spooky at Halloween time.
The Emlen Physick Estate - considered Cape May's original “haunted house” - is where Halloween happens from October 1 to 31. The 1879 estate, located at 1048 Washington St., will host the annual Scarecrow Alley during October. Admission is free.
Explore Scarecrow Alley at the Physick Estate on October 26, as part of the Halloween Outdoor Crafts & Collectibles Show. An open-air show featuring wares of local vendors and crafters will take place on the grounds from 10 am to 3 pm. Feel free to come in costume.
Trick-or-Treat at the Emlen Physick Estate will take place on Halloween from 5 to 7 pm. Some spooky characters await within for good little ghosts and goblins, pirates, and princesses to come in for their Halloween treats.
Ghost and spirits tours including Phantoms of the Physick Estate, Voices from Beyond House Tour and Ghosts of Cape May Trolley Tour are available.
The Cape May County Park and Zoo’s annual “Boo at the Zoo” event will take place on Saturday, October 26, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Cape May County Park, in Cape May Court House. Sponsored by the Cape May County Board of Commissioners, this event is free and open to the public. Wear a costume and take part in family activities like a craft station, games, candy, entertainment, animals, an inflatable obstacle course, a pirate ship, and more. A costume contest will start at 11 am; registration begins at 10 am. An awards presentation will follow the Halloween costume contest. The Cape May Dancers will perform at 12 pm with a live animal presentation in the boneyard throughout the day. Master DJ & Sound will be rocking special Halloween tunes.
A Halloween parade will make its way down Asbury Avenue from 6th to 11th streets in Ocean City on October 24 beginning at 7:15 pm.
Ocean City’s “Howl-O-Ween” parade on October 26 is for owners who like to dress themselves and their pooch in zany, fun Halloween costumes. Hosted by the Humane Society of Ocean City, parade your pup on the boardwalk from 6th to 14th streets beginning at 3 pm.
A Halloween Parade & Dance Party in Sea Isle City takes place at 7 pm October 18, traveling along Landis Avenue, with the dance party to follow at Excursion Park.
The Greater Wildwoods Elks Halloween Haunted House lets you trick-or-treat through a "haunted house" so you can get treats. The Elks Lodge is located at 1st and New Jersey avenues in North Wildwood. The house is open from 5:30-8 pm October 26. Admission is free.
The North Wildwood Trunk-or-Treat Halloween Block Party takes place along Olde New Jersey Avenue in North Wildwood from 5:30-7 pm October 26. Families are encouraged to bring their vehicles decorated. Children will come in costume and visit each car where families will provide treats from the trunks of their cars. There will also be magic, balloon twisting and more. Prizes will be awarded to the best decorated vehicles. Children’s’ costumes will not be judged.
The Boo Fest Makers Market takes place October 26 and 27, from 10 am to 4 pm, at the Wildwoods Convention Center. There will be more than 40 vendors, plus face painting and kids activities. Free admission.
The Stone Harbor Business District Trick-or-Treat event takes place on October 31. Put on your costumes and walk through Stone Harbor’s 96 St. Business District.
