Grand Kyiv Ballet ‘Sleeping Beauty’

Join the Ukrainian Grand Kyiv Ballet as they debut the timeless ballet masterpiece, Sleeping Beauty.

The ballet troupe finished its national tour of The Nutcracker, and returns to Newark for one night only.

This performance features a collective of 30 professional ballet dancers (more than half of whom have fled their war-torn country), founded by principal dancers, Kateryna Kukhar and Alex Stoianov, who undertook extraordinary efforts to evacuate their two children and their fellow ballet dancers (200+ to date) safely from Ukraine to America upon Russia’s invasion.

It’s been nearly three years since their school – the Kyiv State Choreographic College in Kyiv, Ukraine – was damaged due to the war. Now, the professional Grand Kyiv Ballet dancers are on a mission to raise funds and help rebuild the school while showing audiences the hope and healing power they all found through the arts.

A portion of the proceeds from this event will be directed towards the renovation efforts of the Kyiv State Choreographic College in Kyiv.
