Commander began as fan-made format for playing Magic the Gathering. While MtG is usually played 1v1, Commander was designed to be a multiplayer (usually 4) battle royal, with players forging strategies and alliances with each other on their road to victory.
This new socially focused game mode is now the most popular way to play.
Grab your wackiest decks and that bag of dice you use to track +1/+1 counters, and get ready for the gaming table.
While Commander is considered MtG’s most casual format, that doesn’t make it the simplest format, and you should have some experience with traditional 1v1 Magic.
