Grand Marshall Tim MacCutcheon and Community Grand Marshall Tommy Taylor lead this year’s Freehold Borough Arts Council Saint Patrick’s Day Parade.

Freehold Borough and Rathangan, Co. Kildare, Ireland, are officially “twinned” communities, and a group from the Irish village will travel to the borough for the March 16 festivities and to further develop the twinning process.

Rathangan is the ancestral home to multiple Freehold residents, most notably Bruce Springsteen, whose great-great-grandmother, Ann Geraty, emigrated to the borough in 1853.

Freehold Mayor Kevin Kane and a delegation of residents visited Rathangan in 2024 to progress the twinning process.

At his May concert at Croke Park, Bruce gave a shout-out to Mayor Kane and his relatives from Rathangan and noted the towns’ connection. He then dedicated the song “My Hometown.”

The parade will step off at 12:30 pm. It will be preceded by check-in at 10:40 am, Assembly at 11:30 am on West Main, and the Grand Marshall Induction Ceremony in front of the American Legion Freehold-Monmouth Post 54.

There will be contests for Best Dressed Baby Under 3, Best Dressed Dog, Best Dressed Adult, Best Decorated Bicycle, and Best Dressed Motorcycle.

The route runs down Main Street and ends at Freehold Elks Lodge 1454.
