Freehold Boro Arts Council St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place on March 16.
Check-in is 10:40 am. Marchers will assemble at 11:30 am on West Main Street. The grand marshal induction ceremony is at 12 pm in front of the American Legion. The parade steps off at 12:30 pm.
Grand Marshal is Tim MacCutcheon. Community Grand Marshal is Tommy Taylor.
There will be contests for best dressed baby (under 3), best dressed dog, best dressed adult, best decorated bicycle and best dressed motorcycle.
Corned beef platters, sandwiches and drinks, plus a 50/50 raffle, will be held at Freehold Elks Lodge 1454 at 5:30 pm. Mail Order Bride will perform from 1-6 pm.
Corned beef platters, sandwiches and drinks will be served at the Knights of Columbus. Jimmy & Gene’s McMahon Clan will perform.
Corned beef platters, sandwiches and drinks will be served immediately after the parade at the American Hotel. The Eddie Testa Band will play in the Majestic Room; cover charge is $5. Pat Guadagno and Richard Blackwell will play in the Royal Room. Seating, food and a simulcast will be live in the Lenox Room.
Prior, on March 12, Irish Week Flavor of Freehold is a tour of Downtown Freehold’s restaurants, bars and shops. You walk from place to place with a “Shamrock Passport” used as a guide of where to go. You will receive signature samples from some of Freehold’s most loved establishments. There will also be bagpipers performing to establish a festive atmosphere. Cost is $25 per person.
Then the Irish Week Pub Crawl takes place from 8-10 pm March 13. Beer crawl is $25 per person, and scotch crawl is $50 per person.
