Keep the Children Safe, Inc. was founded as a response to the ever-growing dangers confronting the children of Newark’s Ironbound Community. In 2008, Keep the Children Safe Group was incorporated as Keep the Children Safe, Inc. and given 501 (c) (3) status. The Dr. Andre & Mrs. Grace Birotte Trick or Treat Memorial/ Fall Festival will provide a safe haven for young children to enjoy the Halloween spirit in a controlled, yet festive environment.
The Dr. Andre & Mrs. Grace Birotte Trick or Treat Memorial serves to honor the memory of the late Dr. Andre Birotte and his wife, Mrs. Grace Birotte. As founders of the Saint Justine’s Day Care Center, Dr. Birotte and his family have seen the educational needs of the Ironbound community’s children for more than 30 years. As a practicing doctor in the Ironbound Community and for Newark’s Board of Education, Dr. Andre & Mrs. Grace Birotte’s continued commitment to the people of this area of Newark will be well remembered.
The festival takes place on or around October 31st at 3:00pm beginning with a pre-parade event of activities and entertainers located at Peter Francisco Park on Ferry Street and Edison Place. The parade proceeds to the Ironbound B field where there are more fun-filled educational activities for the children to engage in.
The Keep the Children Safe, Inc. Annual Fall Festival consists of various entertainers, educational giveaways, trick or treat bags filled with lots of goodies and a scholarship for the most creative costume. Keep the Children Safe, Inc. helps restore people’s faith in the community, ensure children’s safety, and provide a forum for the sponsors to show their continued commitment to the community in which they do business.
