Description

Our community is invited to celebrate Day of the Dead with strolling mariachis, sugar skull decorating, folk arts and crafts, and delicious food. Enjoy a performance by Grupo de Danza Folkorica La Sagrada Familia and learn about this rich cultural holiday at this free, family-friendly afternoon event.

Day of the Dead is observed in Mexico and throughout the world at this time of year, where family and friends gather to remember and honor those who have died. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars using sugar skulls, marigolds and favorite foods of the deceased, and then visiting graves with these as gifts.

This event is held as part of a series featuring free community workshops, performances, and more.

This series is generously supported by the Princeton University Program in Latin American Studies, the Global History Lab of Princeton University, Princeton University Department of Spanish and Portuguese, and Tacoria. Special thanks to community partner Cherry Grove Organic CSA.
