The Montclair branch of the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), New Jersey’s premier destination for French language and culture, today announced details of its popular Bastille Day Celebration in Montclair, which returns to the scenic Van Vleck House & Gardens on Sunday, July 14. The festivities start at 5pm with a special Cocktail Hour, and continue with a Garden Party featuring a buffet campagnard from 6 to 9pm. Tickets are available at fiaf.org/newjersey.
Michelin-rated chef Nicolas Houlbert (Boulud, Ze Kitchen Galerie, and Mavrommatis) will prepare a gourmet buffet with a New Orleans twist and boulanger Arben Gasi, owner and chef of Montclair’s Le French Dad Bakery & Café, will provide breads and desserts. From 5–6pm, cocktails will be served alongside hors d’oeuvres including beef rillettes, crab cakes, spicy shrimp with cucumber, and more. The buffet from 6–9pm will feature duck and fig paté, chicken liver mousse crostini, caramelized pork belly, confit tomato tartelettes, Louisiana salad with shrimp and vegetables, artisanal breads, cheese, miniature French pastries for dessert, and French wine.
Throughout the evening, New York–based ensemble GUMBO ROYALE, will entertain with New Orleans Jazz and Dixie swing favorites. Featuring Linus Wyrsch (sax/clarinet), Dallas Vietty (accordion), Gizem Gökoğlu (voice), Larry Cook (bass), the group tastefully blends pop, jazz, blues, and world classics with its unique Southern spice.
Each attendee will automatically be entered into a drawing to win French-themed prizes, including beauty items, gourmet food baskets, and much more. Additional tickets for the drawing can be purchased on site.
