Description
Afro Beat Fest, the largest celebration of African culture in New Jersey, returns with a celebration after four years of cancellations due to the pandemic.
This free event aims to bridge the gap between Newark and Africa with a day filled with Afrobeat and traditional dance performances, captivating visual art installations, engaging activities, tasty African food from local vendors and a bustling marketplace featuring Black-owned businesses.
Global stars including King Promise, an award-winning Ghanaian artist known for his soulful melodies and infectious beats; Bad Boy Timz, a rising star from Nigeria who has taken the music industry by storm; and local artists will take the Afro Beat Fest stage.
YEDOR Arts, an organization dedicated to making the fine arts more accessible to underprivileged youth in the Greater Newark area, will host art installations that showcase Newark’s artists’ thought-provoking talent and artistic vision. Mohammed Awudu, a four-time award-winning visual contemporary artist from Ghana, will also be present to showcase his globally renowned work.
Additionally, festivalgoers will enjoy a children’s village and marketplace filled with Black-owned local and regional businesses to purchase products and food and beverages.
