Christ Church Nursery School (CCNS) was established in 1962 and has been serving the community for over fifty-five years, playing an active role in the education of young children. The school is sponsored by Christ Church in Short Hills and welcomes children of parishioners as well as children of all faiths from Short Hills and neighboring communities. They are proud of their small class size and dedicated teaching staff.

The school year at CCNS runs from mid-September to mid-June. They also host an annual six-week summer program. There are ten classrooms that welcome preschool children ages two through six, offering many different class options. Their preschool is enriched by several specialty teachers focusing on music, movement, handwriting, reading and gardening. In fact, CCNS recently opened their own outdoor classroom and garden!

In two additional classrooms, they host a Drop In Center, where childcare is offered on a set or flexible schedule for children ages six months through six years. The Drop In Center is currently open from 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM and follows the Nursery School calendar.

State licensed, the school serves approximately 180 children offering spacious classrooms and four fenced-in outdoor play areas. They follow the Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards that are set by the New Jersey State Department of Education and work to create a nurturing and exciting learning environment following guidelines set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. They believe that young children learn best through hands-on learning experiences that encourages their natural enthusiasm for exploring and understanding the world around them.

Parental participation is encouraged and welcomed. The Parents Association of Christ Church Nursery School (PACCNS) is a very active and dedicated parent group that was established in 1987. This dynamic group enriches the school environment with fundraisers, enrichment activities for the children and outreach into the community.

Parents may register for CCNS from November to February 1st for the following school year. Registration in the Drop In Center is ongoing. Interested families are invited to call the school at 973-379-6549 to arrange for a tour.
