Central Park doesn’t just thrive in the summertime. You can head there with the kids this October to flaunt their gorgeous pumpkin carvings in the Halloween Pumpkin Flotilla.

Sign up and bring your pumpkin masterpieces to Charles A. Dana Discovery Center on October 30 at 4 pm where they’ll sail across the water in the flotilla. Before the 6:30 pm launch, your coven can try some Halloween crafts, watch live pumpkin carving, listen to spooky stories and rock their most haunting threads in the costume parade. After the fun, all pumpkins will be hooked up to a floating device and lit before sailing across the water.

Pumpkins must weigh about 8 pounds and be about the size of a soccer ball. Mini or huge pumpkins won’t be accepted, nor will pumpkins with artificial bells and whistles (that means paint, glitter, food dye, candles, etc.). Pumpkins also can’t be returned after the flotilla launch, so don’t bring anything that you want to have on the doorstep Halloween night.

Space in the flotilla is capped at 50 pumpkins, so be sure to pre-register ASAP to be included. For more information, call the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center at 347-443-0656. The flotilla will be located at Harlem Meer on the East side of Central Park at 110th St. between Fifth and Lenox Avenues.
