Death to Dandelion: Crayola Retires a Color from Its Crayon Box for the First Time

The company vows to replace it with a yet-to-be named color

Say goodbye to Dandelion! Crayola announced on Thursday the flower-inspired shade is officially going into retirement.

Dandelion has been part of the Crayola collection since 1990, and the shade was added to the 24-count box in 1999. It’s not the first crayon to be removed from the 24-count box, but it’s the first one to be completely retired from all Crayola boxes. And though the replacement color hasn’t officially been announced yet, there was buzz that it’ll be something blue in Crayola’s Facebook Live event earlier this morning.
