Is your family obsessed with zombie movies, monster makeup and all things undead? Think your brood could survive a zombie outbreak? Find out October 7 at the 10th Annual Zombie Walk on the Asbury Park Boardwalk and Convention Hall.

Thousands of walkers will be in full garb as they limp, run and growl their way down the boardwalk towards the end of the trail, where music and activities await you at the finish line. A formal after party for grown-up zombies at Johnny Mac’s goes goes into the wee hours.

If you want to go but are doubting your special effects makeover skills, get all gussied up at the Pro Zombie FX Artist’s Alley instead of DIYing. Pro makeup artists will give you your “bloody best” look with one of three packages ($15-50) that include everything from grayed skin to prosthetic wounds and fresh gashes.

This isn’t the only zombie party in NJ this year. The Smithville Zombie Walk on October 28th at Underground in Historic Smithville is sure to be quite the monster mash. Get top-notch makeup done by FX artists, show off your funeral threads in the parade and shop macabre vendors. Activities will be posted in the coming weeks before the event (last year these included the Raffle of the Living Dead and Zombie Archery!).

The Highlands Zombie Parade is also a can’t-miss. Head to Huddy Park in your most sinister attire, or go early to get a pro makeover. The free parade is followed by a costume contest, but you’ll have to bring your A-game to beat out these ghastly ghouls.
