On Tuesday, March 2, American Dream is celebrating the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day with a fun-filled event for kids ages 4 to 10.
American Dream is kicking off its new “Kids at AD” series on the first Tuesday of every month with an awesome socially-distanced event that will include storytelling, craft activities and giveaways for the kids.
Leading the read-aloud will be New Jersey Family’s editorial director Dina El Nabli, who will read Breathing Makes it Better by Christopher Willard and Wendy O’Leary. This sweet story teaches children how to navigate powerful emotions like anger, fear, sadness, confusion, anxiety and loneliness and guides them to breathe through their feelings and find calm by stopping to take a breath.
Leeza Hernandez, New Jersey Family’s art director, will read John Lithgow’s Never Play Music Right Next to The Zoo which she illustrated! In this hilarious picture book, a concert gets out of hand when the animals at the neighboring zoo storm the stage and play the instruments themselves.
Angel Madison, New Jersey Family’s managing editor will read Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham and senior editor Ronnie Koenig will read One fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue fish as Tuesday is also Dr. Seuss’s birthday!
After the readings, children will do a craft activity while maintaining social distancing and will receive packaged treats to take home. Each attendee will also receive a coupon good for a future visit to Blacklight Mini Golf or Mirror Maze, American Dream’s newest attraction, a mind-bending galaxy of corridors with twists and turns around every corner.
The event will take place Tuesday, March 2 at 2 pm at American Dream, Court A, Level 1, 1 American Dream Way in East Rutherford. The event is free but pre-registration is required, so click here to save your spot! Capacity at the event will follow all current health and safety guidelines.
