If you missed the last two supermoons (on July 12 and August 10), don’t worry, there is one more headed our way.

Supermoons, which are also called "perigee moons," take place when the moon becomes full at the same time it's closest to us in its orbit around Earth.

Typical supermoons appear 30 percent brighter and around 14 percent larger than a full moon, says NASA. The next supermoon will be on September 9 and will be the last one for the year of 2014.

The September 9 supermoon will be the last to complete the trio of supermoons that began in July.

Wait until it's good and dark to get the full effect!
