Jump! Immersion Summer Camp offers all the fun of summer with the added advantage of learning a 2nd language. Summer is a time for making new friends, exploring the outdoors, using various media for different hands-on projects, performing skits and having fun. Our school offers authentic cultural games, engaging activities, outdoor games and more to express your child’s inner artist! Summer Camp in either Mandarin Chinese or Spanish! Our summer curriculum takes inspiration from our Day School and infuses more activities, more hands-on projects to help “bridge the gap” for new words and specialized vocabulary. This is not your ordinary language school; children are our passion and we recognize that activities are the way to children’s hearts. If they are engaged, they will soak up the words. Our teachers are native speakers, and come from a variety of Latin American countries as well as different regions in China. They have education-related degrees. We train our teachers in immersion techniques in order to strengthen their teaching abilities. All share one common trait: nurturing dispositions. Teachers recognize that if students feel safe, loved and cared for, they will take that “leap” and speak in the target language when they are ready. Teachers continually encourage and praise students for their efforts, coaxing them for more. We welcome beginners as well as more advanced students. Students are placed by ability and age. Jump! recognizes the importance of social groups and strives to make sure that children feel comfortable with the initial groupings. If you look closely, you may see 2+ levels of the target language in class. The teachers expect this and have the methodology to differentiate between the levels. Camp days follow a daily and weekly schedule. As the Founder of Jump!, Jackie Sanin, likes to say: “the more they go, the more they’ll know.” As students learn the routines, they can anticipate what comes next, which allows them to focus on their expressive language. Days begin with a Class Discussion or “Circle Time” for the littlest campers. Students will cycle through Art, Sports, Outdoor Time, Water Play [Edison location has access to a pool on certain day(s)]. Classes spend the majority of time with their group and sub-groups; there are larger activities planned as well. In addition to language learning, there are weekly Visitors that come to the school to bring more opportunities for growth and fun breaks. Prior years’ Visitors have included: Rizzo’s Reptiles, “Bouncy Castles,” friendly Clowns, Magicians, etc. Jump! has also organized barbeques and ice cream socials to bring the all the classes together. Children can attend 5 days a week for greatest learning potential, as well as 3 day (M,W,F) and 2 day (Tu,Th) options. Before Care and After Care are offered at a modest price. Catered lunches are available for those limited on time. Jump! is a peanut- and tree nut-free school. Interested? Let us give you a tour!
