Camp Opens Its First NJ Toy Store And It’s Loaded With Interactive Fun

The popular interactive toy store has just opened at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus.

The toy store chain CAMP, which has six locations in New York, Los Angeles and Texas, has just opened a seventh location and its right here in New Jersey. This innovative twist on a traditional toy store just opened at Garden State Plaza in Paramus and we got a peek at all the fun that’s in store when you visit.

Located near the AMC Theatres on the second floor of the Garden State Plaza, this 6,500-foot space is inviting and fun for kids (and adults). Guests are greeted by a retro pickup truck (each location has its own unique classic vehicle) which has an interactive surprise. Here you can shoot hoops against a friend with the soft balls in the back of the truck.

There’s also a big treehouse and slide for the kids to climb and soft turf-like carpeting makes landings on the slide extra cushy. This is one store where you won’t have to worry if your kid is crawling around on the ground. Playing on the store’s treehouse or truck is free to anyone who comes in, making this a nice play break while mall shopping.

Each location has its own unique hands-on experiences. Here at the New Jersey location, you’ll get to try out the craft corner filled with seasonally rotated kits. For $15-30 (depending on the craft) you’ll be able to do anything from slime to pottery, and you can either take a kit home (it comes with instructions) or make something with the help of a Camp Counselor (aka staff member), who will give hands-on help and handle all the clean-up. This is a great idea if you aren’t a fan of having glitter all over your house.

Tucked into each little cabin are themed toys and crafts, with everything from kids’ clothing to LEGOs to plushies and more. The craft-themed cabin, filled with fun things like Kinetic Sand, slime, and every kind of marker you could want, even has a coloring area where the kids can doodle.

CAMP’s got a curated selection of new and retro toys,  and counselors on staff are trained to help you find the perfect toy for the special someone on your list. A New York location recently helped launch one of this year’s hottest toys, the Magic Mixies with the help of Neil Patrick Harris, and the chain had the toy in stock as an exclusive weeks before it hit other retailers like Amazon. Stay tuned for special events and activity nights in the future.
