Police across 8 towns in North Jersey are on high alert and checking high schools, elementary schools and middle schools, after they received bomb threats overnight.
Garfield, Leonia, Fair Lawn, Englewood, Teaneck, Hackensack, Tenafly and Clifton have all received threats, and some towns have instituted lockdowns while others have evacuated students.
According to NorthJersey.com, Sgt. Robert Bracken, a spokesman for the Clifton police, said the high school received a recorded message over night saying a bomb had been placed in one of the schools and that there was going to be a mass shooting. He reassures that there is "no indication of any validity to the threat," but goes on to say that they are taking precautions across the entire school district.
