If you grew up listening to “Piano Man,” “We Didn’t Start the Fire” and “Movin’ Out,” you’ll want to get moving to Long Island to see a new tribute to the iconic Billy Joel.

The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) has officially opened its long-anticipated exhibit “Billy Joel: My Life, A Piano Man’s Journey.” This exclusive exhibit showcases over 50 years of Billy Joel memorabilia, which includes behind-the-scenes video footage, dozens of awards, rare audio and video recordings, vintage instruments and historic photos—many of which were donated by Billy Joel himself and have never before been displayed for public viewing.

The exhibit includes information from his childhood in Hicksville and Levittown, Long Island; and journeys through his albums, tours, inspirations and personal experiences.

And it’s the first of its kind, as it is dedicated exclusively to a LIMEHOF inductee.

Plan to take your time walking around the exhibit, since there are a lot of hands-on pieces to interact with. You can put on a headset and hear Billy’s music. You will see concert footage on the screens – a bonus whether or not you’ve seen Joel in concert during his residency at Madison Square Garden. You can check out the musician’s drum kit and organ.

The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is located at 97 Main St. in Stony Brook, NY. The museum is open from 11 am to 6 pm Wednesdays through Sundays. The Billy Joel exhibit is open now through September 1, 2024. Tickets are available online or can be purchased in person at LIMEHOF. Tickets are sold by time block availability, and cost $35 for adults, $32.50 for seniors and veterans, and $20 for students age 13 and older. There is an option to purchase VIP anytime tickets that can be used at any time during the duration of the exhibit.
