Indoor ski resort Big SNOW is reopening soon! The attraction has been closed since last September because of fire damage. The fire was contained to a small area of the snow dome, but construction has pushed back the reopening until Memorial Day weekend.
The good news is that once spring outdoor skiing has ended, avid ski and snowboarders can resume their year-round training at the climate-controlled spot where there are perfect ski conditions on the slopes all year round. The 180,000 square-foot snow center, located inside American Dream in East Rutherford, is the only one of its kind in North America.
“We could not be more excited to reopen Big SNOW to our guests this May,” said Hugh Reynolds, Chief Marketing Officer, SNOW Partners. “We thank our guests and team for their patience over these past few months, and we appreciate the hard work of all involved in getting us ready to reopen. We look forward to reuniting with our guests on the snow this summer and getting back to the business of offering endless winter fun here in New Jersey!”
Once the snow park re-opens Memorial Day Weekend, skiers and snowboarders of all levels can hit the indoor mountain. The spot is great for beginners since most gear and a short lesson are included in the price of admission. And you can brave the 16-story slope (don’t worry, there’s a gondola to take you to the top) and ski down. You can even rent a sno-go bike if you’re a little unsteady on skis. The bike offers a combo between skiing and riding a bike.
Tickets for opening weekend aren’t available yet, but check the Big Snow website for updates.
