Authorities Warn of Terrorist Threat Around July 4th: What You Need to Know

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a terror warning for the upcoming July 4th weekend. But before you start panicking and canceling your BBQ plans, here's what you need to know.

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a new terror warning related to events around July 4, in the wake of the ISIS attack in France and Tunisia this week, as well as the arrest of the second New Jersey native who attempted to join ISIS overseas.

There is no specific plot mentioned, the warning is linked to July 4 festivities and a perceived increased risk of domestic terrorism surrounding them.

"We are encouraging all law enforcement to be vigilant and prepared," said the Department of Homeland Security Secretary in a statement. "We will also adjust security measures, seen and unseen, as necessary to protect the American people."
