ART.WRITE.NOW, a traveling exhibition featuring works by winners of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, will be on display at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia from Thursday, February 16 through Wednesday, March 14, 2012. More than 55 pieces of artwork by the top teen artists and writers in the nation will be on view, including 3-D works and videos, and an additional 50 written works will be displayed on iPads. The center is one of seven stops on the exhibition’s national tour and the only location on the east coast. Works by two students from the tri-state area are featured in the exhibition.
The awards are made possible through a partnership with the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. Admission to ART.WRITE.NOW is free with regular admission to the center.
While there, be sure to look for the works of two nearby artists, Komrorng Bo, a graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia, and Courtney Swafford of Wilmington, DE; each were recognized with Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Their winning submissions will be on display at the center. Bo received “Best of Show” for his art sculpture Wolf, while Swafford was recognized for her short story Cracking Gold.
