Apple or pumpkin? That is the question when it comes to the tastiest fall treats. For some of us, the season is all about apple cider, apple cider doughnuts and baking yummy apple treats after an afternoon of apple picking. But for others, nothing says fall like a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. And don’t forget other favorites like pumpkin bread, pumpkin soup and pretty much everything pumpkin at Trader Joe’s for the next two months.
While you may have a strong preference for one or the other, according to Sprout Social, a social media analytics company, there’s a clear winner in this category.
That’s right, despite Starbucks launching the new Apple Crisp Macchiato, people still can’t get enough of the more traditional Pumpkin Spice Latte. Conversations on social media about the drinks rate around 15.79K for the apple bevvie vs. 21.99K for pumpkin drink. The company also tracked pumpkin conversations at a higher volume than apple — 72.61K compared to 18.79K.
As for the top keywords and hashtags on Twitter and Instagram, the company found that “fall” came in first, followed by “Starbucks,” “pumpkin cream cold brew,” and of course “fall vibes.” Other search terms included #AppleCrispMacchiato, #pumpkinspicelatte, #fallflavors and #seasonalflavors.
