After-School All-Stars is dedicated to guiding kids in low-income households to make healthy choices in terms of how they spend their time, how they are in school, physical activity and socializing. Dax-Devlon Ross, Executive Director of the Northeast Chapters, sits down with Joanna Gagis to discuss how the program keeps youth active and productive during after-school hours, a time at which crime tends to spike in their target areas. Ross talks about building relationships with every new city the program tries to serve. Learn more about Sports as a Hook, the program's national health initiative that was even given a nod by Michelle Obama! After-School All-Stars has locales in Paterson, Newark and potentially Camden in the near future.
