Want to see more A’s on their report cards? Get them moving. When kids are active right before school, they concentrate and focus better in class, according to a study of nearly 20,000 students ages 5–19.
Data from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation confirms that after 20 minutes of physical activity, (the average time it takes a child to walk to school), students tested better in reading, spelling and math.
Unfortunately, only 13 percent of kids walked or biked to school as of 2009, down from 50 percent in 1969, according to the Safe Routes to School National Partnership.
