If you’ve hit the Asbury Park boardwalk recently, you may have seen work being done on the Asbury Ocean Club. On the fourth floor, a 54-room oceanfront hotel is a month away from opening its doors to the public.
The Asbury Ocean Club Hotel is like a dream beach house taken to the extreme, complete with floor-to-ceiling glass, stunning green areas and next-level views of the Atlantic. Rooms were designed so that every single one has a view of the water or dunes from a personal terrace.
The property is a product of the same minds behind The Asbury Hotel, which opened in 2016 next door to the newly renovated Asbury Lanes, a bowling alley music venue hybrid. It’s the first 5-star luxury boutique hotel at the Jersey Shore.
The concept? A carefree, luxurious retreat from the daily hustle and bustle. Instead of a typical lobby, guests first enter a gallery. Each room is meant to feel like a private beach loft, and is equipped with high ceilings, tons of natural light and terrace balconies built with a subtle curve inspired by the shoreline. Four one-bedroom suits and seven studio lofts are also available with living and dining areas.
Unlike other hotels, this spot pairs each guest with a Beach Bellperson, who takes care of any and every issue from setting up umbrellas on the sand to bringing your crew lunch. The hotel boasts clean Mediterranean-influenced eats by the pool, via room service and in the Drawing Room. There’ll also be fine dining available and high-profile chefs on the ground floor come 2020.
You’ll also find local gin, beer and coffee from hometown gems like Asbury Park Distilling Co., Asbury Park Brewery and Maiden Coffee Roasters. Wellness goes hand-in-hand with clean eats, so you can expect a state-of-the-art-gym, a relaxing spa and classes via streaming. There are also daily IRL classes in yoga, tai chi, Pilates and meditation, plus runs on the beach and aromatherapy sessions.
The star of the property, though, is the outdoor pool and deck, which features cozy sofa seating, sunken beds, tons of lush greenery, a full-service bar and grill, a granita cart serving up juice, smoothies and tiki drinks and a massive pool overlooking the sea. You’ll catch major oasis vibes here, thanks to the sprawling pool terrace, the expansive pergola filled with flowers, big picnic blankets and limitless views.
The Asbury Ocean Club Hotel opens 4th of July weekend, but reservations can be made now. Peak season rates will start at $395, but come fall it’ll go down to $295. The hotel is located at 1101 Ocean Ave. in Asbury Park. Visit asburyoceanclub.com/hotel or call 732-705-1100 for more information.
