Luxury Dinner and a Movie
This newly-opened restaurant and bar is chock-full of fresh, sustainable farm-to-table fare created by James Beard award-winning Chef Sherry Yard. (We especially love the braised short ribs, shrimp and grits and burger with red onion marmalade.) The farm-to-glass cocktail menu created by Master Barman and Advanced Sommelier Adam Seger is also not to be missed. Try an El Corazon (made with tequila, passion fruit, pomegranate, blood orange and a salt and peppercorn rim) or a Norma Jean (vodka mixed with homemade strawberry lemonade) before catching a flick at the swanky iPic movie theater upstairs. Yo Ho’ Ho’ and a Bottle of Rum
Distilleries were recently legalized in NJ (they’d been banned since Prohibition!), and new spots are popping up all over the state. Drop the kids off at grandma’s for the afternoon and sample some craft-made rum or whiskey at Jersey Artisan Distilling. Don’t leave without tasting their hard ice (aka rum-infused sorbet) and signature cocktails. Be sure to look for ticket discounts on Groupon. Jersey Artisan Distilling, 32 Pier Ln. W., Fairfield; 862-702-8935; jerseyartisandistilling.com
Liberty Science Center After Dark
Who knew this “kid”-museum makes for a super-fun date night? The museum just started hosting 21-and-over parties every third Thursday of the month, where you get to explore exhibits like the Infinity Climber, dance in a “nightclub” setting (the music and laser shows change monthly) and indulge in signature cocktails. $15 per person. Liberty State Park, 222 Jersey City Blvd., Jersey City; 201-200-1000; lsc.org
