Where to Find Free Indoor Movies in NJ this Summer

In addition to the popular free outdoor movies screening across NJ, many theaters offer free indoor movies for kids and families all summer long. Here are some places you can go to escape the heat (and give your wallet a rest).

Check the Clearview Cinemas free summer movie schedule to find out which movies are playing at which locations and when. Locations include South Orange, Wayne, Clifton, Chester, Hoboken, Parsippany, Ridgewood, Kinnelon, Madison, and more; see all locations at their full schedule. Titles include Walking with Dinosaurs, Rio 2, and more.

Showcase Cinemas also offers weekly free screenings, Wednesdays mornings at 10 am (July 8-29)—but kids will need to bring a book report to “Bookworm Wednesdays” to get in free. Get full schedule and details here. New Jersey locations include Edgewater and Randolph. (Children under six who accompany a participant and adults who accompany a participant receive free admittance to the Bookworm Wednesdays movie and do not need to submit a book report.)

Marquee Cinemas in Toms River (Ocean County) have a free summer movie series at 9:30 am, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with two movies to choose from each day. July 7 - August 26. All of the films will be screened at the Orchard 10 theater.

Regal Summer Movie Express is an almost free indoor summer movie experience. If you're willing to spend just $1, you can see a fun flick with your family. Check the website for locations and dates. Series will continue on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 am for nine weeks.

Bow Tie Cinemas will be hosting its Summer Kids Series every Tuesday and Wednesday at 9 a.m. from June 20-August 16. The venues will include the theaters in Washington Twp., Aberdeen, South Orange, Hackettstown, Bergenfield, Hoboken and more. Get the full list of locations and movies here.

If you live in the Sparta, Westfield, Cranford or Voorhees area you can stop by the Carmike Cinema at 10 a.m. on Thursdays for its Summer Kids Series. Admission costs $4 per person and includes popcorn and soda.

The State Theatre 15 in New Brunswick will also be hosting free indoor movie screenings this summer at 10:30 am and 7 pm. Penguins of Madagascar will be playing on July 14 and How to Train Your Dragon 2 will be shown on July 28. Night at the Museum-Secret of the Tomb will be played on August 8.
