Specialty: Pediatrics

Antonio Thomas, MD

Dr. Kia Calhoun Grundy is a board certified pediatrician who focuses on the wellness of the family when treating her young patients. “I take the time to talk with kids about their goals, grades and the role they play in the family in addition to providing their medical care,” says the mother of two, who has been practicing for 15 years. Dr. Grundy provides tools to help kids make positive choices from their friends to their diet.

Dr. Grundy recently moved to a new office that is intimate and brightly colored to make kids feel at home. She has a special interest in providing care for newborns and first time parents as well as managing childhood obesity.

Dr. Grundy attended Hampton University and earned her MD at New Jersey Medical School, now Rutgers, prior to going into private practice. Dr. Grundy is also a school physician at several charter schools.

“Dr. Grundy is very passionate about her patients. My kids have been going to her since my first was born two years ago. She's amazing with my kids, but also to me! She has taught me how to be a new mom, helped me with some difficult times as a mother, and reassured me in times that I felt like a failure. She's definitely a mom's mom, which I feel like is very important to a child's health. I wouldn't think of sending my kids to anyone else!" -Jaclyn, Union

"Dr. Grundy is very patient with explaining what's happening during the visit. She returns phone calls when you contact her with a concern regarding your child. She's very caring and knows her patients by name. She makes her office very warm and friendly." -Felicia, Roselle

"Dr. Grundy is an exceptional pediatrician because she treats my three children as her own. She always give you advice in regards to my kids on how it will benefit them and make them better. She cares about her patients’ status in school and how their progress is coming along. She recognizes the great work they do in school. It makes me proud of how so many children that she took care of are now doing great things in college. She always asks about the other siblings when one of the other kids come for their appointment. She brings laughter to her office with the kids. She has a smile that brightens up a room. I really love her. She also helped me when my insurance dropped her as a doctor they covered and we figured out a payment plan together." -Josie, Irvington
