Tri-County Orthopedics

Andrew A. Willis, MD

Specialty: Orthopedic Surgery/Sports Medicine

Dr. Andrew A. Willis combines advanced training with an ability to put children at ease as he provides compassionate, effective care at Tri-County Orthopedics. A sports medicine surgeon, he specializes in athletic injuries and disorders of the shoulder, knee, elbow, wrist and hand.  He is among a select group of physicians who are triple-board certified in orthopedics, sports medicine and hand and elbow surgery.

Minimally Invasive Care for Sports Injuries

“My goal is to manage sports-related injuries in a non-invasive way whenever possible, and to safely allow an injury to heal while minimizing the time away from a patient’s favorite sport or activity,” he says.

A lifelong athlete, Dr. Willis specializes in advanced arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery, ligament reconstruction and cartilage restoration procedures as well as fracture and tendon repair.

Treating Young Athletes

A partner at Tri-County Orthopedics, Dr. Willis is the service chief for arthroscopy and sports medicine at Morristown Medical Center and a member of the sports medicine fellowship teaching faculty at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC. He is a team physician for the NY Jets, Drew University and The Delbarton School. “My experience working with high school, college and professional teams means I can offer my young patients a very high level of care,” he says.

Dr. Willis received his MD from Columbia University and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in hand, elbow and upper extremity surgery at the Mayo Clinic and a second fellowship in shoulder, knee and sports medicine surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

“It’s satisfying to see the joy on a patient’s face when they return to their favorite sport, and gratifying to help alleviate the stress and anxiety surrounding these injuries for the patient’s family,” he says.

Dr. Willis repaired my son's broken arm from a skateboarding accident. His calm demeanor immediately put us at ease and we knew our son was in good hands. I've gone to him myself now for some elbow issues. I would recommend him to anyone - and I have! ~Diane, New Providence
