A Patient-Centered Medical Home

Touchpoint is cited in health care consumer and peer resources as one of the top pediatric practices in New Jersey. In 2014, the practice was recognized by the AAPNJ and NCQA, a Washington, DC-based organization dedicated to improving the quality of health care, as one of the first in New Jersey to meet the highest level of recognition as a patient-centered medical home, which includes a focus on team-based, coordinated care. “We always treat parents as partners in their child’s healthcare team,” Dr. Shaw says.

A board certified, fellowship-trained developmental and behavioral pediatric specialist, Dr. Shaw has extensive experience managing ADHD, autism and learning disorders. The doctors are on staff at Goryeb Children’s Hospital at Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Hospital and St. Barnabas Medical Center.

Meeting Children’s Medical and Non-Medical Needs

Many physicians entrust the care of their children to Dr. Shaw and her colleagues, who maintain flexible office hours, coordinate care with specialists and always follow up with patients. “We diagnose and treat physical and developmental problems as well as offer guidance on behavioral and nutritional concerns, sleep problems and sibling rivalry,” she says.

With special expertise in asthma, allergies, prematurity, genetic disorders, digestive and nutritional issues and sports medicine, the pediatricians collaborate to improve children’s health and help guide families toward healthy habits. Touchpoint recently welcomed a new advanced practice nurse who will help expand the practice’s services for special needs patients. Dr. Shaw states, “Communication, education and coordination of care are the cornerstones of our philosophy.”
