We’re from New Jersey which means we all run on coffee, right? According to WalletHub, a finance website, NJ is home to one of the best coffee cities in the nation.
The site compared the 100 largest US cities based on 14 key indicators of coffee culture, such as coffee shops and cafes per capita to prices of bagged coffee.
Jersey City made the list in 6 different categories, including coffee and tea manufacturers per capita (6th), average spending on coffee per household (13th) and percentage of adults who reported drinking ready-to-drink coffee in the last 6 months (2nd). The Hudson County hotspot also ranked 1st in the average price of a cappuccino. Its categorized rankings gave the city an overall rank of 20th.
Nearby Newark came in 38th. If you want a caffeine boost on the other side of the Hudson hop on the PATH to NYC, the overall 4th best coffee city on the list.
If you want to explore JC’s cafe offerings, try hitting spots such as modcup, where you can taste beans from as far away as Ethiopia, The Grind Shop, which is also the exclusive carrier of Doughnut Plant donuts or Lackawanna Coffee, where you can sip lattes with can’t-miss flavors such as burnt caramel or black sesame.
