You’ve probably heard by now: careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) are on the rise, and will be plentiful by the time your mini makers are off to college or joining the workforce. That’s why so many parents are trying to get their kids engaged in STEM subjects early on. And according to U.S. News’ Best High Schools Rankings, NJ is a great place to do that (and maybe even the best).

According to its list of Best STEM High Schools in the country, Lincroft’s High Technology High School is top in the country, boasting a 98 percent graduation rate and a 98.2 STEM index (this was computed based on the percentage of AP STEM Math and STEM Science test takers in each school’s 2016 graduating class). Other Garden State schools made the top 10, as well: Bergen County Academies in Hackensack (100 percent grad rate, 94.4 STEM index) and Union County Magnet High School in Scotch Plains (100 percent grad rate, 91.2 STEM index).

Additional NJ schools that made the cut include West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South (#17), Bergen County Technical High School in Teterboro (#21), Academy for Information Technology in Scotch Plains (#29), Montgomery High School in Skillman (#35) and Millburn High School (#55).

The methodology? U.S. News looked at the top 500 public schools from the general nationwide ranking, then evaluated the students’ participation in AP science and math tests. For the complete national rankings, plus rankings by state, charter schools and magnet schools, head to usnews.com.
