MontGhouls, goblins, ghosts and… pooches?  That’s right! Our four-legged friends love Halloween, too! Strut your mutt in a pet parade this season for a doggone good time. Will your pet win best in show? We've got DIY pet costume ideas to get you started. 

Dog Walk of the Dead 

October 21, Sussex County Fairgrounds, Augusta, 11 am–4 pm
This event features all of the same zombie dog walking festivities you'd expect. Enjoy music, animal adoption, and a classic car show at this spooky fundraiser for the One Step Closer Rescue. 

Costume Pet Parade

October 21, Historic Smithville, 1 pm
Take a little trip to Historic Smithville to watch more than 100 hilariously cute costumed pets in this parade. There are also plenty of restaurants, shops, a train, a carousel and paddle boats, among other things to do.

Millburn's Strut Your Mutt Halloween Costume Contest

October 21, 1:15 pm
The 2 pm contest will be full of creatively dressed pups. Feel free to come see the spooky canines, even if you don't have one of your own. 

Montclair's Strut Your Mutt Halloween Costume Contest

October 21, Montclair, 9:15 am
Show your pooch off at the 10 am parade. Entry is free and prizes are available. 

Strut Your Mutt Costume Contest at Thompson Park Day

October 15, Lincroft, Noon and 3 pm
Head here with your pooch all dressed up to compete for funniest, scariest, prettiest, most original and best canine/human combo costumes. Preregister by October 6 to participate. There's also pumpkin painting, contests, theater performances, entertainers and more. 

Strut Your Mutt Parade

The Strut Your Mutt Canine Halloween Costume Contests have become a popular event for dog owners to celebrate their pets and share a happy event with other dog owners. Whether or not you have a dog, join the fun, pick your favorites and enjoy the parade. This event is raising money to help save animal lives, so don't forget to donate.

4th Annual Kearny Doggie Halloween PAWrade Festival

October 28, Urban Enterprise Zone, Kearny
On Saturday, bring your costume-clad pooches to this festival (rain or shine), with food, doggie photo booths and doggie massages. Not to mention, there's prizes to be won.

Barktoberfest 2017

October 21, Pampered Pet Luxury Resort, Millville, 11 am–4 pm
Check out this amazing event that's chock-full of fun things to do with your four-legged friends, including a pet costume contest at 2 pm. Plus, there's pumpkin-decorating, food and a bounce house for your little ones. There's also a Chinese auction to benefit pups in need. 

Seaside Heights' Trick-or-Treat Street and Howl-O-Ween

October 22, Boardwalk, Seaside Heights, Noon-5 pm
There's a puppy parade, as well as prizes, a kid parade, pumpkin-decorating, pumpkin chunkin' and tick-or-treating. 

Marty's Place Howl-O-Ween Family Fest

October 22, Marty's Place Senior Dog Sanctuary, Upper Freehold Township, 11 am-4 pm
Grab your pooch and take a ride over to this canine-friendly shindig. Dogs can try the Ruff Mudder Canine Obstacle Challenge, mini-swim lessons in the facility's indoor pool, participate in a costume contest, photo sessions and more. The kids will love the hay rides, K-9 police dog demonstrations and Kid's Zone with face painting and pumpkin decorating.
