Ellen Dean Davis, MD
Specialty: Orthopedic Surgeon

As a former professional soccer player, Dr. Ellen Dean-Davis can relate to the demands placed on young athletes today and is passionate about getting them back to their favorite sport as quickly and safely as possible.

“I treat every child as if they were one of my own, and I think of my patients as my extended family members,” says the mother of two.

A four-year Division I Academic All-American soccer player at the University of Tennessee, she became a patient herself after suffering an on-field tibia/fibula fracture that required surgery. Dr. Dean-Davis was successfully rehabilitated and went on to play professional soccer with the Women’s United Soccer Association.

Personalized Care for Complex Conditions

Today, Dr. Dean Davis provides treatment for sports injuries like strains and fractures as well as more complex cases such as deformities and congenital conditions.

Committed to making kids comfortable and taking a minimally-invasive approach whenever possible, she specializes in the treatment of hip disorders, pediatric trauma, clubfoot and cerebral palsy. She includes both children and parents in discussions to make the best treatment decisions for families.

“I spend a lot of time with patients to personalize a treatment plan that meets their needs,” she says. “It’s never a one-size-fits-all approach.”

Deep Experience That Makes a Difference

Dr. Dean Davis earned her MD at St. George’s University School of Medicine, where she was valedictorian. She completed her orthopedic training at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center and a specialized fellowship in pediatric and adolescent orthopedic surgery at the Alfred I. DuPont Children’s Hospital. After receiving the highest level of training under world leaders in pediatric orthopedics, she remains active in both clinical and academic settings.

“It’s very rewarding to make a long-term positive impact on a child’s life,” she says.
