8 New Year's Eve Dates You'll Love

Skip the house party this year, book a sitter and plan a big night out—grown-ups only.

It’s Showtime!

Bring R&B funk to your 2018 send-off with Salute to Vienna. This concert is a dazzling homage to Vienna’s golden era, and has been a New Brunswick tradition for 13 years at the State Theatre. Marvel at operettas and ballroom dancing alike. The New Jersey Festival Orchestra will also perform in Westfield, joined by Broadway vocalists and dance pros from the Dance Theatre of Harlem. Tap your toe along to the sounds of timeless MGM musicals at Singin’ and Dancin’ with the Stars.

DETAILS: Salute to Vienna: New Year’s Eve Concert, State Theatre NJ. NJPAC, Newark. 6 pm. $55-125; Singin’ and Dancin’ with the Stars, Westfield High School. 7 pm. $42-70

Get Physical

If you’re a runner or have always wanted to try a race, make your way to NYC for the New York Road Runners Midnight Run through Central Park starting at 11:59 pm. Warm up with dancing and music at 10 pm. Fireworks will light your four-mile route. For a more chill evening, reserve a private bay at Topgolf Edison to shoot golf balls, chow down and sip bubbly with up to six players per bay. Topgolf boasts 102 climate-controlled hitting bays and microchipped balls that score themselves.

DETAILS: NYRR Midnight Run, Central Park at 72nd St., NYC. 10 pm. $30-70. Register online by 5 pm on NYE; Topgolf Edison, Edison. 9 pm-1 am. General Admission bays $225, VIP bays $450

One-of-a-Kind Parties

Haven’t gotten over the styles and sounds of your ’80s days? Celebrate the past at the Red Tail Lodge at Mountain Creek in Vernon all decked out in big hair, bangles and lots of spandex. Dress the part and sing along to live covers by the Route 80’s Band. If you’re more into 007, snag tix to the From Asbury With Love New Year’s Eve Ball. Dress to the black-tie nines at this fiesta that celebrates all things James Bond. Kick back in the lounge, sip champagne, dance along to a DJ and more.

DETAILS: NYE at the Red Tail Lodge, Mountain Creek, Vernon. 8 pm-1 am. $20-100; From Asbury With Love NYE Ball, Convention Hall, Asbury Park. 9 pm-1:30 am. $120-225

It’s Dinner Time

Check out one of Hoboken’s newest Japanese restos, Saku, with a three-course meal. Choose from drool-worthy picks like pepper-seared tuna ponzu with sesame and carrots, filet mignon with uni butter, zucchini ramen or sushi and sashimi. A DJ starts spinning at 9 pm, and select time reservations include a champagne toast. You can also end the year on a note of mystery at Murder Among the Mateys, a pirate-themed murder mystery dinner. Get your fill of dinner, dessert and dancing while trying to figure out which scallywag did the crime. Prizes will be given out for most dramatic, best dressed and more, so come in costume.

DETAILS: Saku Hoboken, Hoboken. 5 pm-2 am. $75-110; New Year’s Murder Mystery Dinner, The Event Center, Vineland. 6-10 pm. $20
