Named after a local Native American chief, Alloway Towship is rich with history. Visit Dickinson House, a famous brick abode built in the mid-18th century that was later added to the National Register of Historic Places, or take a trip back in time at the Alloway History Museum.
This township is proud of its farmland and landscape, which it works hard to protect. Alloway Lake opened for public use in 2009, and is now a local favorite for picnicking, boating and catch-and-release fishing. Land formerly known as Holly Hills Golf Course was also recently repurposed for locals; it features tons of walking trails to wander down and two small ponds.
If you’re looking for more structured outdoor fun, make the under-10-minute trip to Coombs’ Barnyard in Elmer, where kids can attend movie nights, barnyard parties and more. And when your crew is itching for some city-style quality time, Philadelphia is justan hour or so away. As far as community events go, Alloway Township knows how to party. Kids have a blast at the 4th of July Parade in Woodstown, the largest in Salem County, and at the annual Halloween Parade, which was voted the best in Salem. Parents looking for a date night without the little ones often turn to the Alloway Village Inn, a cozy bar offering traditional pub fare.
