School House Rock Live

This Stars on Stage production of School House Rock Live opens at 6 am as Tom Mizer, a young teacher, wakes up on his first day of work. As his alarm goes off, Tom enters and begins to rehearse his teaching technique. Soon, Tom's thoughts begin to take life around him. In an attempt to calm himself, Tom turns on the TV. Whats on this morning? Why, it's School House Rock!

Corn Planting

Children can help with corn seed selection, fertilizing, and planting. Afterward, children can grid and sift cornmeal for baking, and sample freshly-made cornbread. Children can also make a corn wreath craft.

Saturday Outdoor Adventures

Trailside Nature and Science Center in Mountainside, NJ

At this Saturday Outdoor Adventure session, you'll learn about owls. Discover which owls inhabit the Watchung Reservation. Take a walk to known roosting sites to search for pellets and feathers. Learn to identify local owls by sight and sound.

NJ Goes Native

Join an educational celebration of native plants. Go on hikes, learn about native plants and mushrooms, hear talks on horticulture and gardening, take part in workshops such as tea making, composting, and carving with native woods. Kids can make a reed craft and work on a "plant a plant" craft. 

National Train Day

The Morris Museum partners with the Morris County Public Library and the Whippany Train Museum to celebrate National Train Day and America's love of trains. Visit the model railroad gallery, decorate a golden spike, and make a train conductor.

Beautiful Butterflies, Birds, and Cinco de Mayo Family Festival

From crawling caterpillars and fluttering butterflies to lovely local birds, celebrate the garden's most beautiful and important inhabitants. Learn about the live butterflies inside the Philadelphia Eagles Four Seasons Butterfly House. Celebrate the return of Monarchs from Mexico and the Mexican traditional holiday Cinco de Mayo. This event includes crafts, education, a planting activity, and a colorful cultural celebration.
