The Piano Workshop at Chester offers private one-on-one lessons in piano, guitar and voice. Our Chester studio offers a wonderful environment, optimum teaching conditions, perfect acoustics and high quality pianos. Every instructor at our studio has a degree in music education, performance or pedagogy and has an extensive resume of professional performances and experience.
Our 15 teachers work with students at all age levels and we are “super cool with kids “. We have programs which include students at pre-school level (2-4) using our state of the art MusIQ Club piano lab, elementary, middle and high school students, graduate school performance candidates and even retired (and not yet retired) adults. “Every one of our teachers has a vested interest in your (or your child’s) music education. We match new students to specific teachers based on goals, learning styles and previous experience level, and take pride in the fact that we all work hard to stay on the cutting edge of the newest teaching repertoire, technology and pedagogical skills.”
Kindermusik Program: for infants to 5 years of age and their parents. This is where it all begins. Using music and movements children engage in activities that stimulate cognitive social, emotional development as well as fine and gross motor skills. Classes and programs run all year round with special summer classes as well.
Tiny Fingers: Recommended for pre-schoolers age 3 to age 6 . Classes are offered year round once per week in ten week sessions, plus weekly summer mini-camps. Utilizing our state of the art Musiq Club piano lab, children will learn in a fun supervised environment the basics of piano, how to read notes, and more importantly how to tap into their own creativity to improvise and compose their own melodies. This is an excellent stepping stone to private lessons, or for pre-schoolers a wonderful way to start learning and experiencing the appreciation of making music a part of their life.
Recitals: We do offer recitals and performance opportunities throughout the year. They are optional and not mandatory but always an excellent experience and life skill in growth to be able to take a piece from beginning to completion and perform in front of an audience.
Jazz Studies: In addition to classical and traditional approaches to music. Some of out faculty specializes in Jazz studies. We work with a number of middle, high school and college students as well as adults in Jazz theory repertoire and improvisation skills.
Jazz Ensemble/Rock Band: In the summer as well as during the year, we offer ensemble/combo classes. Sometimes they take the form of a jazz group, and sometimes a rock band depending on interest and ability levels of those signed up. Students learn how to play together and as a team. They learn jazz and blues forms and structure, how to trade solos with each other and most importantly how listening is such an integral part of performing with a group.
