The Red Oaks School is a progressive, independent, early childhood, kindergarten, elementary, and middle school located in Morristown, New Jersey. Our diverse community of families originates from over thirty different countries and resides in communities throughout Essex, Morris, Somerset, Sussex and Union counties.
At Red Oaks, we hold “an inch wide and a mile deep” perspective as a guiding principle for curriculum design. As technology and knowledge grow exponentially, a 21st century education must teach students how to grapple with presently unforeseeable challenges; helping students to decode the process of how to learn and how to think. Our students delve deeply into areas of inquiry, learning what questions to ask and how to think critically, analytically, and creatively. They become thinkers, problem-solvers, and doers. And we nurture the whole child, because we know from research that emotional, physical, and social functioning are integrally related to academic performance and intellectual growth.
Long a proponent of 21st century learning, Red Oaks provides education that is dynamic, progressive, and embraces best practices in education. The well-researched and time-tested Montessori curriculum is enhanced and enriched by current and ever-evolving validated research in education and child development. It is designed to help students cultivate superior academic and life skills, aiming high while allowing children to get there at their own pace.
The Red Oaks School enjoys accreditation by the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools, American Montessori Society, and Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Our triple accredited curriculum achieves high standards of excellence, meeting or exceeding the New Jersey curriculum standards, and providing all students from early childhood through grade 8 with age-appropriate study of all the core subjects plus music, art, physical education, and foreign language.
