Fully accredited by the National French Education Ministry and by Middle States Association of Schools, the French American Academy offers an early-start, gradual immersion, dual language education to students from Pre-K2 through 6th grade in three New Jersey locations – New Milford, Morris Plains and Jersey City.
The FAA had opened 6th grade in September 2016 and will add a grade each year up to 8th grade.
The French American Academy strives to provide the highest educational standards with a bilingual, comprehensive curriculum in a safe and creative environment.
We foster an atmosphere that promotes critical thinking, curiosity, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic. We encourage the physical, social and emotional development of our students in a nurturing, multicultural setting.
We cultivate individual talents and aspire to see our students become well-rounded, lifelong learners, who are respectful, confident, positive, open-minded, and globally literate.
We expect our students to use the skills they have acquired in their bilingual education to think critically and innovatively.
We believe preschool is far more than day care. Our mission for preschool is to help children to grow and become independent, establishing a strong base of skills for the future.
We expect our Elementary and Middle School students to meet or exceed the expectations of the French Ministry of Education Program and the U.S. Common Core State Standards.
Our elective classes in Middle School provide students with a well-rounded education giving them more opportunities to explore, new interests to develop or academic skills to perfect. Through our electives classes students can expand their writing skills, critical thinking skills, and communication skills.
As we grow, we continue to offer more to our students. Here are a few highlights:
We continue to provide differentiated instruction within small class size. Our average class size is 14.
We have equipped all elementary classrooms with interactive boards. Apple computers and Ipad are part of the learning experience. we have a one-on-one laptop policy for 5th grade and up.
We are proud of our math curriculum and instrumentarium which enhances manipulations.
We are proud of our co-teaching in science and our Science Fair .
We are proud of our Art program which is displayed during our Art Show in May.
We are proud of our bilingual teams who are bringing unique bilingual plans in the classrooms
