John P. Connor, MD

Pediatric Urology

John P. Connor, MD, Pediatric Urologist

Dr. John P. Connor of Adult and Pediatric Urology Group puts children and their parents at ease with his comforting, personal approach—and always treats patients as if they were his own children.

“My guiding philosophy is to ask myself: if this were my son or daughter, what would I do?” says the father of three.

Dr. Connor specializes in minimally-invasive procedures, including both robotic renal and ureteral reconstruction surgery, which allow for less pain, quicker recovery, and minimal scarring. He is among the busiest hypospadias reconstructive surgeons in the country. He is committed to making treatments painless when working on a variety of urological issues in children, from urinary reflux to undescended testes and hernias.

“I understand that many of the pediatric urology problems I treat are especially difficult for parents to face,” he says.  “I believe in a caring, personal touch, being sensitive to my young patients’ needs and compassionate in their care.”

Dr. Connor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology as a specialist in pediatric urology, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada. He completed a surgical residency at UCLA Medical Center in California and a urological residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, and fellowships from Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

Dr. Connor holds hospital privileges at Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Hospital, and St. Barnabas Hospital. He has served as assistant professor of urology and director of pediatric urology research at Columbia University.

Dr. Connor has continually been listed among the Best Doctors in America, and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, American Urological Association, the Society for Fetal Urology, and Society for Pediatric Urology.
