Rachel Fisch-Kaplan, clinical director of CommuniKids, knows firsthand what it’s like to watch your child struggle with critical development areas like speech, fine motor skills, and sensory integration.

Even though she had been a successful speech pathologist for ten years, it wasn’t until her own daughter required the help of occupational therapist Laura Martucci that she became fully aware of the parents’ perspective when searching for the right therapist to work with, not only your child, but your entire family.  Even as her speech practice was thriving, she knew she wanted to expand the services she could offer and when Martucci expressed interest in joining forces, CommuniKids was born.

CommuniKids prides itself on a remarkable staff of speech therapists who are trained to address a full spectrum of issues including articulation and oral-motor weakness; feeding, stuttering and auditory processing difficulties; receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language challenges; as well as the many issues that accompany autistic spectrum and attention deficit disorders.  The occupational therapy team is particularly adept in treating sensory integration issues as well as fine, gross, and ocular motor weaknesses.

With advanced training in numerous alternative methodologies including PROMPT, Sensory Integration Praxis Testing, ABA, Floortime and The Listening Program, the therapists at CommuniKids are confident in their abilities to help children become all that they can be.

“To give a child that belief in themselves and the tools to be successful,” Fisch-Kaplan says, “is one of the greatest gifts you can give.”
